If the garage roof its hipped, then there is little to be gained by using trussed rafters. In these circumstances a traditional roof is normally easier and cheaper. This type of roof does need ceiling joists to tie the outer walls together, although a ceiling needn't necessarily be fixed.
We need the following information to design a garage roof:
the plan dimensions of the garage
the height of the roof above eaves level
the type of roof covering
whether the roof space will be used for storage
the approximate location of the building
Design information
All design work is carried out in accordance with BS5268 (The structural use of timber).
The calculations provided will be suitable for Building Regulation approval.
