Often when properties are refurbished, altered or extended, it becomes necessary to alter the internal layout and this can include moving a staircase to fit it with the new layout.
This type of alteration can be very straightforward, but it can sometimes be quite tricky. In either case it is necessary to make sure the existing floor and any walls above are adequately supported.
We need the following information to design the alterations to a stair layout: .
architectural layouts or sketch drawings with dimensions, showing the span of the floor joists and the position of the loadbearing walls at the top of the stair level
the position of any loadbearing or partition walls above the stair level
